HaloBoost Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information is collected by HaloBoost when you use our website www.haloboost.com, and for what purposes we use or share this information.

 

WHY WE NEED SOME PERSONAL INFORMATION

HaloBoost uses your PERSONAL INFORMATION to:

• Verify your identity when you sign in

• Provide our services as outlined in the Terms of Use

• Administer your account or funds as outlined in the Terms of Use

• Respond to any requests or questions you may send us

• Send you any relevant marketing information (but only in accordance with your email preferences)

• Conduct research and analyze data to improve upon our service.

 

 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you CREATE AN ACCOUNT with HaloBoost, you provide us with your:

• Name

• Email address

• Facebook information if you are signing up via Facebook.

• Login and password details

 

In addition to this information, PROJECT LEADERS will be required to provide some or all of the following information:

• Legal name or business name

• Legal physical address

• Tax ID

• Telephone number

• Date of birth

• WePay account information

 

If you BOOST A PROJECT, you will be asked to provide your:

• Name
• Email address
• Ship-to information (if you chose a gift that requires delivery)
• Credit Card information, including credit card number, expiration date, billing name and address

 

We will also collect:

• Details of any transactions you make on the site

• Your IP address and the type of device or browser you use

• All Communications you send to us (e.g., questions, comments and support), other users and projects.

 

INFORMATION WE MAY SHARE

When you Boost a project, the PROECT LEADER(S) will know:

• Your account name

• Email address

• Pledge amount

• Gift you have chosen

 

If the project successfully funds, the Project Leader will be issued the EMAIL ADDRESS associated with your account so they may send you an email requesting information to complete their gift fulfillment (e.g. shipping address, t-shirt size etc.) This communication will be solely between you and the Project Leader.

 

We may also provide Project Leaders with GENERAL ANALYTICS regarding how people came to their project, in order to assist them in advertising, marketing and social media outreach.

 

Project Creators WILL NEVER KNOW YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS OR OTHER PAYMENT INFO.

 

When you Boost a CHARITY, that organization will be furnished with:

• Your name

• Amount donated to their charity

• Email address (so they may send you a tax receipt showing: 1) name of the charity, 2) date of contribution, and 3) amount of contribution.

 

HALOBOOST DOES NOT SHARE YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS OR OTHER PAYMENT INFO WITH THE CHARITIES.

 

When you set up an account with HaloBoost, we create a PROFILE PAGE which can be accessed whenever your account name appears as a result of boosting a project, creating a project, posting a comment or sending a message. Information on the Profile Page includes:

• Your name

• Projects boosted (but not amounts or gifts chosen)

• Projects created

• Comments posted

• Any other information you choose to share, such as picture, bio and location

 

 

If you are a PROJECT LEADER and we determine that you either: 1) did not comply with your campaign commitments such as project creation or Gift fulfillment, or 2) you have not complied with the PAY-IT-FORWARD aspect of your campaign commitment; AND we determine that you have not adequately communicated with the parties involved (i.e. Boosters and Charities), we may furnish them with your contact information to facilitate this communication.

 

 

INFORMATION WE NEVER SHARE

• Payment and credit card information

• Password

• IP address

• Phone number

• Any private correspondence with HaloBoost staff and support

 

 

TWO EXCEPTIONS TO THE WORD “NEVER” AS USED ABOVE:

• We DO SHARE your credit card information with our payment processor, Stripe, but only as is necessary to provide our services outlined in the Terms of Use.
• We also RESERVE THE RIGHT to disclose information in the event it is needed to comply with law enforcement, prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect HaloBoost’s legal rights.

 

 

PROTECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

• We will never post anything to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts without you requesting us to do so.
• We will never sell, trade or give away your information in any manner other than that outlined above.
• Credit card numbers are never stored on our database or servers
• We use SSL encryption technology to encrypt sensitive information before it travels across the internet.
• We use generally accepted procedures to store and transmit data. That being said, no method can be 100% guaranteed and we make no claims as such. We will promptly notify anyone whose Personal Information is compromised, but HaloBoost does not accept liability for any unintentional disclosure or a disclosure that occurs due to a security breach of our systems or facilities.
• The HaloBoost site does contain links to other websites. Should you visit one of these sites, please be advised that their privacy practices may differ from ours.

 

A WORD ABOUT EMAILS

We would like to send you short emails from time-to-time promoting certain HaloBoost campaigns we think you might enjoy. However, you will always have the opportunity to opt out of our mailing list. Other emails you may get, include:

• Those confirming a recent pledge, a successful charge to your credit card, or a problem with your credit card.

• Answers to any questions or comments you may have addressed to our staff.

• Following a successfully funded project, Project Leaders may contact you for information related to your chosen Gift.

• Following a donation to one of our Charity Partners, that Charity will email you a tax receipt. (PLEASE NOTE: each charity should provide you the ability to opt out of all future correspondence.)

• If you are a Project Leader and would like to invite others to be a part of your Project Team, we will ask for that person’s email address and send them an invite to join your Team and set up an account with HaloBoost.

 

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

• To edit or delete any personal information provided to HaloBoost, please log in and edit your profile. We may retain certain information as required by law or that we deem necessary for business purposes.
• Individuals under the age of 18 are not allowed to have a HaloBoost account. As such, this privacy policy makes no provision for their use.
• This privacy policy extends to users all over the world.
